Using TextChanged event without triggering event

Background: I am using an MS Access 2002 database of names and scores on the backend to be updated w/VB.NET using 1.) form1.vb for name selection and then 2.) form2.vb with the individual's scores to update.
I pass the db key to form2 and loading data on form2 via data binding.

Question: How can I use the TextChanged event (for data editing) on text boxes without triggering that event at form2 Load Event time (or Activate form time)?
You probably will not be able to suppress the event, however you can set a Boolean member within Form2 after data is bound to the TextBox and only allow the behavior implemented in TextChanged to run when this Boolean is set to true.
