Making a mask for a textbox

I've been trying to make a mask for a textbox. Reading about this topic I found that it is possible to use the masked edit control, but when I try to bind this control with a dataset, I get an error. I can't seem to fix this exception. I don't know if control permits to bind it or I'm doing something wrong. The control is inside a tab page control and the error occurs when I try to move from the second to the first page. How can I solve this problem? Should I make a mask for the textbox, perhaps?
I have never had much luck with the built-in mask controls. Generally I create a new control that inherits the textbox control and add behavior to implement my mask behavior.
