How can I disable the parent menu bar while I click buttons on the child form?

How can I control a parent form after I have loaded the child form? At parent form:

Dim frmCompany as new frmCompany
frmCompany.MdiParent = Me
frmCompany.Show()
frmCompany.Dock = DockStyle.Fill

The coding above will load the child form. I want to disable the parent menu bar while I click certain buttons on the child form. How can I do this?
You'll need to expose the menu or other control from your parent form as public fields or write a public method on the parent form. In your child form, you'll cast (using CType) the Parent property to your parent class. Once you have the parent with the proper type, you can call methods and properties on it all day long.
