Can you give some guidelines for users that need to convert VB6 apps to VB.NET?

Hi there. I need to make guidelines for users that need to convert their VB6 application to VB.NET. Can please tell me what we should do before the upgrade (meaning, what changes should be done in VB6 for a smooth upgrade -- need to know only the most important ones) and what is the easiest way to handle the application after the upgrade? (Meaning, how should we handle the green codes that will appear in VB.NET. Sometimes it's easy, but sometimes it's difficult.) Can you suggest the best way to handle both these problems? Thank you very much for helping me and reading this question.
Before you go off converting a bunch of code, you'll want to make sure there's a good reason for doing so. If you're just moving forms-based applications from VB6 to VB.NET, you'll encounter much more hassle than necessary, and in many cases, it'll be faster to rewrite it. I'd recommend sticking with VB6 for your forms-based applications and doing new (from scratch) development in VB.NET.
