Essential Windows Workflow Foundation helps .NET architects with key concepts such as write activities, make the most of the WF programming model, host the WF runtime in an application and work with data and metadata.

Chapter 3, Activity Execution, is based on the concept that one can understand the machinations of large WF programs only after seeing how single Windows Workflow Foundation activities are executed.

The chapter begins with a look at three key activity concepts -- scheduling, automation and execution logic. The authors then examine execution mechanics, activity initialization, composite activity execution and the way the Window Workflow Foundation runtime uses CLR threads,.
