Silverlight is both a programming model for developing and distributing Rich Internet Applications and a browser plug-in for delivering the media created with Silverlight.

Silverlight 1.0 is available now and supports JavaScript. Silverlight 1.1, currently in alpha, supports the use of dynamic .NET programming languages -- Visual Basic, IronRuby and IronPython -- as well as JavaScript for RIA development.

This book covers the basics of Silverlight programming, beginning with XAML, continuing on to static content like images and text and concluding with a section on "making your content come to life" with animation, audio and video.
