ADO.NET and System.Xml v. 2.0 -- The Beta Version explains the changes made to these important data programming models in the .NET Framework 2.0. These changes include a Database Schema Discovery API in ADO.NET 2.0 and a plethora of classes for reading, editing, validating and the customizing the serialization of XML documents.

Chapter 5, ADO.NET and SQL Server 2005, describes three areas of functionality in which the two data models share core functionality. The first is MARS, or Multiple Active Results Sets, whish allows more than one results set to be open at one time. The second is SQL Server query notifications, in which the server sends notification of any changes made to source data.
