Windows Communication Foundation is Microsoft's platform for creating service-oriented architectures and connected messaging systems in the .NET Framework 3.0. Wrox Press' Professional WCF Programming introduces experienced .NET developers to this platform, focusing specifically on important WCF processes such as bindings, contracts, hosting and security.

Chapter 7, Clients, focuses on the client, which in Windows Communication Foundation is an application that invokes a service and obtains information about a service through an endpoint. After discussing the basics of client architecture, author Scott Klein dives into the types of client communication patterns that are possible and the ways in which these patterns should be programmed.
