Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005 Team System (VSTS) encourages collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle. Separate editions of the product exist for testers, developers, architects and database professionals (or "data dudes").
Professional Visual Studio 2005 Team System offers an overview of the product. The authors then present guidance for using VSTS for modeling, designing, and coordinating enterprise solutions. There are also hints for getting the most out of development scenarios and automation scripting in VSTS.
Chapter 14, Unit Testing with the Unit Test Framework, describes the unit test capabilities that are available in both the Developer and Tester versions of VSTS. The chapter begins with a look at the overall concept of unit testing, which is getting as granular as possible, and at the idea of test-driven development, in which tests are written before code. From there the authors cover the syntax of writing, executing and analyzing unit tests, how VSTS support unit testing in ASP.NET apps and how to spot the parts of your code base that are not covered by unit tests.
