Do you want to expose your existing business logic and components as Web services, but aren't an XML or SOAP guru? CapeConnect Two for J2EE is a complete platform that provides automatic creation of Web services without the need to modify your existing code or write any new wrapper code. CapeConnect is built on J2EE and fully supports open industry standards, such as HTTP, J2EE, XML, SOAP, EJB, WSDL and UDDI for open extensibility.

Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) components containing your business logic can be automatically exposed as Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) Web services. Any client that's capable of constructing and understanding SOAP messages can interact with CapeConnect to access Web services, including Microsoft technology.

Features at a glance
* Standards-Based Solution
* No Coding Required
* User-Defined Types
* Full J2EE App Server Included
* Direct Internet Access to EJB
* WSDL Support (VB, C++ ready)
* Native EJB Client Support
* UDDI Compatible
* SOAPDirect

CapeConnect generates Web Services Description Language (WSDL) files from EJB components making them accessible to a variety of languages, even popular Microsoft languages like Visual Basic. Darren Barefoot, Cape Clear Senior Engineer, demonstrates how to use VBScript to invoke the functions of an Enterprise JavaBean hosted on WebLogic, using the CapeConnect Web services platform in this Online Demo Video.

Included is a specialized API called SOAPDirect for creating SOAP messages. By default, it uses HTTP to send SOAP messages to the CapeConnect XML engine, but it also allows you to change the transfer to HTTPS or any other preferred transport mechanism. If you'd rather use the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit, CapeConnect Two has been tested and supports the latest release.

Fully compatible with Universal Discovery Description and Integration (UDDI), CapeConnect can publish your Web services to Internet repositories for discovery by other businesses. CapeConnect is compatible with leading J2EE application servers, such as WebLogic, WebSphere, iPlanet and Microsoft .Net technology.

CapeConnect also comes in a CORBA version called CapeConnect One. By the time you read this article, there should be a CapeConnect Three combining and enhancing the features of CapeConnect One and Two.
