SourceGear releases new ALM product, updates version control tool

The company has updated Vault, its version control tool, and released an application lifecycle management product, Fortress, built on top of Vault. Both support .NET and Eclipse.

Description: SourceGear has updated Vault, its version control system for .NET applications, and released an application lifecycle management tool called Fortress that is built on Vault.

Vault is built on SQL Server, .NET and IIS and offers developers an alternative to Visual SourceSafe. The latest edition, v4.0, supports both Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 and includes a client plug-in for Eclipse 3.2. It also offers the option of managing the Vault server through a Web interface built on ASP.NET 2.0.

Fortress 1.0 also supports VS 2005 and 2008, allowing developers to perform version control, work item tracking and build management inside the IDE. It also includes all the functionality offered in Vault 4.0.
