Microsoft: "Visual Studio 2005 brings with it a host of powerful tools for building datacentric
applications. First, there are some new objects that build on top of ADO.NET 1.0. These include a typed
DataAdapter class that makes calling a stored procedure as easy as calling a function. The toolbox also
contains a new grid control that is very easy to customize and control. Finally, the IDE contains a new Data
Sources window that helps you manage these objects and create your user interface at design time."
Microsoft is offering a free eBook called Introducing Visual Basic 2005 for
Developers. Be sure to read Chapter 4 on building datacentric applications. |
Microsoft says, "This virtual lab will show you how to build a Windows application
with a data bound grid and how to execute a long-running query that would normally block the user interface.
In addition, learn about the new features in ADO.NET 2.0 and the difference between writing your stored
procedures in T-SQL versus managed code. You get a downloadable manual and a 90-minute block of time for
each module." |
