Getting an error when I try to test the localstart.asp file

I am a newbie to the ASP.NET world. When I try to test the localstart.asp file I get the following message: 
(the "show friendsly URL error messages" was turned off)
"Server Application Error

The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."

Could you please help me?
Please send the event log message. Maybe ASP.NET is not correctly installed. The .asp extension is used only for the "old" classical ASP.
